Glowing Oceans: questions and answers
Everything about the book, reservations, signed copies, collector’s editions and the touring exhibition, in one place.
What is Glowing Oceans?
A luxury art and science book by Firoiu Dan Nicolae: an atlas of 101 deep-sea creatures that make their own light, shown in 303 plates as living glass, lit from within, with three facts, field notes and depth for every creature.
How big is the book?
A 24 × 30 cm cloth hardcover with gold foil, 228 pages, 101 creatures in ten families and 303 plates.
Are the plates scientific drawings?
The plates are artistic interpretations and do not show the true colours of the living animals. The text, depths, sizes and ranges are scientific: every fact was checked against 294 sources, such as FishBase and the MBARI Deep-Sea Guide.
When is the book released and what does it cost?
The release date and price will be announced. Reserve a copy for free and we will write to you with both before anything is charged.
How do I reserve a copy?
Press “Reserve your copy” on any page and send the email. A reservation is free and is not a purchase.
Can I get a signed copy?
Yes. Signed copies are available on request; write to us when you reserve.
What are the collector’s editions?
Plates of the book for the wall at 60 or 100 cm, on wood or acrylic under glass: unique works and limited editions of ten and twenty-five, signed and numbered.
Can the exhibition come to our venue?
Yes. Glowing Oceans tours at four scales: one gallery wall, a room of 100 to 200 m², a hall of 400 to 900 m², or 24 creatures on buildings across a city. Download the presentation or ask for dates.
Who is the author?
Firoiu Dan Nicolae, author and artist of the Glowing Series and founder of Coco Agency, which has created and toured exhibitions seen by more than 12 million visitors.
Can bookshops, museum shops or publishers order the book?
Yes. Write to us for trade terms, translation and co-edition rights.
