A bioluminescence exhibition for science centres
Bioluminescence, depth and pressure made visible. Every creature carries the same six signs: depth, size, range, glow, water temperature and pressure, so a visitor can compare one with another at a glance.

A visualisation of a design, not a photograph.
What the exhibition brings
- A family exhibition that holds children and adults alike.
- A subject for schools: why animals make light, and how they live under the weight of the sea.
- Facts checked against scientific databases and 294 sources.
- Designs from a single room to a hall of 900 m².
Designs that fit
Depth, size, range, glow, water temperature and pressure for every creature, the same on every caption.
A space lit only by the works, where visitors see how light behaves in the deep.
A route from the sunlit surface to the deep, with lightboxes, floor pieces and cut-outs overhead.
How it works
- You write to us with your venue, its size and possible dates.
- We send the presentation and suggest the design that fits your space.
- The plan is redrawn for your real rooms, and the selection of works is agreed.
- The artist’s team produces the works and installs the exhibition.
- The opening, with the artist present and the book launched.
Questions
What science does the exhibition explain?
Bioluminescence, the chemical light made by living things; the zones of the ocean from the surface to the trenches; and how animals live under great pressure and cold.
How accurate are the facts?
Every creature was checked against FishBase, SeaLifeBase, the World Register of Marine Species, MBARI and published studies. The book lists 294 sources.
Are the colours real?
No. The plates are artistic interpretations and say so. They show what the living animal hides in the dark, not its true colours.
